What is the Quick Explore by Career Goals?

Explore Pathways by Career Goals to explore specific occupations in one of three categories; Military Occupations, Federal Occupations, or Civilian Occupations.


Military Occupations
You can search military occupations by Keyword or Occupational Area.

Occupational Areas
are clusters of military occupations based on common industry areas. For example: occupational areas in Aviation and Space, would include military occupations related to careers such as pilots, aircraft maintanance personnel, or flight operations support.


Federal Occupations
You can search federal occupations by Keyword or by Occupational Group

Federal Occupation groups
are based on a four-digit federal occupation code representing a major category occupations, for example: the Education Group (1700 series) has jobs such as General Education and Training Series (1701), Training Instruction (1712), and Education Research Series (1730).


Civilian Occupations
You can search civilian occupations by Keyword, Job Family, Industry, or Job Cluster.

Job Families
are groups of occupations based upon work performed, skills, education, training, and credentials.

Industries
are broad groups of businesses or organizations with similar activities, products, or services. Occupations are considered part of an industry based on their employment.

Job Clusters
contain occupations in the same field of work that require similar skills, while Pathways are more focused groupings within a Cluster.
